One of the most frequently asked questions is “Do you use five pcs?”.
Quite simply, No. Just one.
I have two monitors, I lead with a character (in this case Mudgem) on my main 24inch monitor. The followers are setup in a four way split screen on a secondary 22inch monitor. I can click one of the follower windows to instantly switch them to the main screen or press ALT-F1, F2 etc.. to accomplish the same.
I made a video a while back of a Paladin and 4 Shaman starting Stratholme so you can see my visual setup here, I have since upgrading my primary monitor.
The PC specification I am using to run this is currently
Asus P8P67 Pro
16 GB Ram
Intel 80gb 25x-m SSD
Running five clients not only requires a lot of memory, but loading textures can be a bottle neck which is where the SSD really helps.
I don’t have to use two graphic cards, it’s just I think my GTX 480 gets a mean workout on it’s own – so I’m sharing the workload, one monitor per card.
I of course use ONE keyboard and ONE mouse, all my keyboard key presses are broadcast to all WOW clients simultaneously using ISBoxer. HAX HAX HAX! .. no it’s not. Then it’s all a case of clever macros and spending time evolving the setup. Half the fun is getting it to work 🙂
